Private Crime

Investigatory Interviews.

We believe we have a genuine insight into the issues you face while you are the subject of a police, internal or regulatory investigation, or are charged with a criminal offence. Our friendly, professional service will be sensitive to your needs. We aim to offer practical advice and will discuss with you the next step. We find others lawyers take a back seat and advise you to “let the police get on with their investigation”. We take account of the exceptional set of circumstances that have caused these problems to arise. Our experience has been acquired by representing professional clients in police or investigatory PACE interviews for over 20 years. We will not sit back; we will actively take your instructions and prepare your case. We have acted for employers as well as employees where criminality or misconduct is alleged and therefore have an enormous amount of experience.

Our business is recommendation based; it highlights the quality of work that we offer.  Our clients consist of people who have had no previous convictions or involvement in any previous offence or allegation of wrongdoing. We understand that you will be extremely anxious about making contact with a solicitor and that there will be a huge impact on your family and your career. We will not prejudge you, and will always treat you and your family with respect.

We have experienced lawyers, and have access to a valuable network of professionals, including barristers and experts, who can assist in advising you in the initial stages of your case. We aim to tailor our service to meet the needs of each client. We have the flexibility to do this because we do not provide a legally aided service and therefore are not constrained by what we can do for our clients and do not comply with a tick box mentality. We can start to prepare your case as soon as you receive notification of an investigation. We have a proven track record of providing assistance to our clients, which has influenced the direction of an inquiry. In our experience, we have found the police and investigative authorities fail to exercise their statutory duty of impartiality and have dealt with this issue by forcing them to reconsider evidence that they ignore.

We have been instructed in all manner of privately funded cases and consider that the best approach is to assess your case at the earliest opportunity, ideally when you are notified of a pending investigation. We can take your instructions and advise you on our approach.

We charge an initial consultation fee so that we can devote a reasonable amount of time to prepare for your attendance and so that we can understand the issues you face. During this consultation, we will provide you with experienced professional advice, tailored to your needs. If you choose to instruct us, we will give you a cost estimate for further work that will be required. We can offer fixed fee quotes or an hourly rate arrangement.  We will set out our terms of business in a client engagement letter and will commence preparation once you agree to instruct us.

For further advice and action, please call or e-mail us.
